Certifications and Compliance



On January 1, 2006, the United States Department of the Treasury enacted the requirement of Anti-Money Laundering (AML) programs for all dealers and retailers in precious metals, precious stones or jewels to detect money laundering and the financing of terrorism under the USA Patriot Act (“Act”). The Act’s purpose is to require dealers and retailers, with sales and purchases in excess of $50,000 per year, to monitor its transactions and ascertain the identity of business partners. Dealers and retailers are not formally considered financial institutions” under the Act and must implement an AML compliance program.


W.R. Cobb Company does not intentionally add lead or cadmium to any of our products. Incoming materials and production melts are carefully checked for lead and cadmium content. Products you purchase from W.R. Cobb Company do not contain a level of lead or cadmium that would prohibit the product from being sold or offered
for sale pursuant to Article 10.1.1 Chapter 6.5, Division 20, of the California Health and Safety Code (Sections 25214.1-25214.4.2).


Section 1502 of the Dodd Frank Act requires companies to disclose whether any of the products manufactured or contracted to be manufactured by the company contains conflict minerals that originate in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) or having an internationally recognized border with DRC and include Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Rwanda,South Sudan, Tanzania, Uganda, and Zambia. For the industries it serves, W.R. Cobb Company is compliant as it relates to the conflict minerals of gold.

W.R. Cobb Company complies with this legislative guideline by:
• Only accepting gold from refiners on the LBMA good delivery list, EICC/GeSI conflict–free compliant smelter list, certified members of the Responsible Jewellery Council or refiners which certify and independently audit that all gold supplies are conflict-free.

• Only accepting gold from Precious Metals Trading Companies which certify and independently audit that all gold from Refineries and/or Banks adhere to the Refinery & Bank compliance requirements listed above.
• Only accepting scrap and/or recycled gold from customers or suppliers which certify and independently audit all scrap and recycled gold.

Certification. We established goals and implemented policies leveraging an Environmental Management System (EMS) which is a systematic approach to handling environmental standards within the organization.

As the world’s most popular standard for quality management, ISO 9001:2015 establishes the standards as a quality management tool in addition to providing a significant framework for business improvement, delivering efficiencies and customer satisfaction.


This initiative seeks to eliminate trade in conflict diamonds, or rough diamonds, sold by rebel groups or their allies to
fund aggression against legitimate governments.


W.R. Cobb adheres to the RJC Code of Practices standard which can be found on the RJC website and reflects the latest updates of the standard.

As of April 2022, we have completed a review of our supply chain and concluded that key suppliers are RJC certified or are adhering to OECD guidelines for responsible sourcing.
